Chapters 23 - 24

1. What is Victor’s plan for dealing with the creature?
He plans to chase him and kill him.
2. Why does Victor ask Elizabeth to retire without him? What sends him running to the bedroom?
Victor thinks that the monster is going to kill him and he doesn't want her to see it. Elizabeth screams.
3. What happens to Elizabeth in the bedroom? How does Victor’s father react to this bad news?
Elizabeth is strangled by the monster. Victor's father is overcome with grief and dies.
4. What action does Victor take? What is the result?
Victor decides to tell the magistrate about the monster. He then goes cross country to follow the monster.
5. Victor, in his anger, says to the magistrate, “How ignorant art thou in thy pride of wisdom!” What is the irony in this?
The Magistrate has a lot of wisdom but will not acquire wisdom from elsewhere?
6. How does the creature further torture Victor? Where is he leading Victor, and for what purpose?
The creature flees, he leads Victor to the north so he will eventually die off.
8. What does Victor ask of Walton?
For him to continue on and kill the monster should he die.
9. Explain Victor’s statement: “When I reflected on the work I had completed, no less a one than the creation of a sensitive and rational animal, I could not rank myself with the herd of common projectors… All my speculations and hopes are as nothing; and, like the archangel who aspired to omnipotence, I am chained in an eternal hell.”
He means that because of the creation of the monster, he is enduring never ending pain.
10. In your opinion, is the justification the creature offers for his actions adequate? What is his plan now?
I think that the monster should live and be put through the penal system like a normal human being.

Frankenstein ch 21-22

1. Who has been murdered, and why is Victor accused of the murder?
Henry, Victor's friend was murdered, and the murderer escaped in a boat like the one Victor ARRIVED in.
2. What finally brings about his release?
I think that he gets out of jail because his father comes.
3. Why does Victor feel he can’t be with people? What opinion does Victor express about his creation?
He can't be with people because he released a monster among them. This shows how sorry he is that he created a monster, and that he thinks that he shouldn't have done it.
4. Why doesn’t Victor tell of the creature’s existence and its crimes? Do you think he is right or wrong?
He basically says that the creature should not exist, and that his crimes were barbaric. I think that he is right.
5. The monster vowed to be with Victor on his wedding night. What has Victor assumed the monster meant? Could it have some other meaning?
Victor assumes that the monster will show up to kill him on the day of his wedding, it COULD mean (but I doubt it) that the monster will be there to celebrate Victor's wedding. It could also mean that he will kidnap/murder Elizabeth.
6. What will Victor tell Elizabeth after they are married? Give your opinion of this plan.
He will tell her about the creation of the monster. I think that this is a good idea, I think he should have told her right away after William was murdered.
7. How does Elizabeth feel about the wedding? Why is she anxious?
Elizabeth is HAPPY that they are going to be wed, but she is fearful about the secret Victor will reveal to her.
8. What do you think will happen on Victor’s wedding night?
I think that the monster will kidnap Elizabeth, and take her elsewhere and possibly murder her!

Frankenstein questions 19-20

1. Describe Victor’s feelings as he journeys through England.
I think that he is finally starting to see the brighter side of life. All the scenery made him feel happy.
2. Why does Victor decide to go to Scotland?
He wants to go to Scotland to be alone to work on the monster's "wife".
3. Describe the place he picks to work. How does he feel about his labors?
He picks a rural village so no one will see him.
4. What opinion does Victor have of his creation? Do you agree with this assessmentof the creature?
He thinks that the creature is hideous and that he is a no good murderer, and I do not agree, the creature is so full of rage, because of Victor's mistakes.
5. What does Victor do after realizing the potential problems of creating a female monster? Who observes his actions?
Victor thinks about the creation of a new monster, and he figures that she may not accept the male and he will become even more enraged.
6. When does the creature say he will get his revenge?
On Victor's wedding night.
7. What does Victor have to do before he leaves? Why does he feel this is an odious but necessary task?
He must destroy the monster and rid himself of the parts.
8. What happens to Victor after he survives the storm and makes it to land?
He is arrested by the Irish people because they think he is a murderer.

Frankenstein questions chapters 17 and 18

1. Why does the creature say he is malicious? Do you think his feelings are justified and/or understandable?
I think that he says that he is malicious because he went on a rampage and hurt people and caused a few deaths. Yes I find that this is understandable.
2. Why does the creature think he will be happy with a female like himself? Do you agree with him? Explain why or why not.
I think that he wants someone that will accept him as he is, because they are as horrid as himself. I do not agree with him, I think that he is such a social creature, he will be driven crazy by living with one person at all times.
3. Describe Victor Frankenstein’s reaction to the monster’s request. What does he decide? Do you agree with his decision? Why or why not?
At first he decides against constructing another monster for his original monster. I think that he should make one just to show the monster how miserable he would be.
4. Why does Victor decide to go to England? How does he feel about Henry going with him?

Franken-chapters Fifteen & Sixteen

1. Overall, what is the creature’s reaction to the cottagers?
The creature loves the cottagers a lot, although I do not think that they show this affection towards him.
2. What is the creature’s reaction to Milton's poem Paradise Lost? According to the creature, how is he both like and dissimilar to Adam?
I believe that he likes the poem because he feels as though he is connected to the writing in some ways, he feels that he is like Adam because he was created, and after a while, he was basically "ditched" by his creator! As Adam was after he and Eve ate the fruit from the tree.
3. What does the creature learn from papers found in Victor’s pocket?
He learned about how he was created, and about his studies, but most importantly, he learned where Victor comes from originally.
4. For what does the creature hope, and what plans does he make to achieve this hope?
I believe that he deeply wants to reveal himself to the cottagers to become part of their family, he plans to reveal himself to the father because he is blind and will not be afraid of him.
5. How does the old man react to the creature?
The creature rushes, and instead of revealing himself slowly, and gaining their trust, he reveals himself, and scares the [Censored] out of the cottagers!
6. What happens when the others return?
They move, because Felix fears that his father's life is in danger.
7. How does the creature feel? What does he wish he had done? What is his next plan?
The creature feels deeply depressed because the cottagers are afraid of him, and that was surely not his intention! He wishes that he had planned more, so the cottagers learned to accept him as their friend. He now plans to leave to Geneva so he burns down the cottage and leave.
8. What happens to the cottagers? What is the creature’s reaction to this?
The cottagers leave, and after they leave, when they do not return, he burns down the cottage to relieve himself of the anguish within him.
9. Why does the creature decide to go to Geneva? How have these horrible circumstances changed the creature?
The cottagers leave, but he wishes to confront his creator. He feels mad at humanity as a whole.
10. What happens that makes the creature feel even more bitter?
He saves a little girl from a river, but her father comes along, and "flips out" at him and shoots him while running away.
11. Why does the creature kill William? How does the creature feel afterward?
He murders William because he is part of the Frankenstein Kin. He feels quite triumphant afterwards.
12. What does the creature do with the portrait he takes from William?
The monster takes the locket and plants it in Justine's "Pocket" but in this section of the story it says "in the fold of her dress."
13. What does the creature say Frankenstein must do?
The Creature says that he must build him a mate/friend.

Chapter 13-14 questions

He will tell Victor of the vents, which have changed him...

he loves the spring, it is warm and there are flowers.

Felix's lover comes to the door, she is an Arab!
4. What is the creature going to be able to learn now that Safie has arrived? What kind of progress does he make?
He is going to learn language because Safie needs to learn it aswell... He gets quite far.
5. Explain why Safie wants to marry Felix. How does her father feel about this?
Safie wants to marry Felix because they love eachother and he saved her father... Her father does not agree with it.
6. Why does Felix have to leave Safie for what he hopes is a short time?
His family is in prison in Paris, he must go help them.
7. What happens to Felix, his father, and sister?
As I explained in the last question, his family is in jail.
8. What does Safie's father do while in exile?
She hides???

Franken-Chapters 9-10

1. What happens to Victor after Justine is put to death? What is his father’s opinion ofVictor’s “immoderate grief”?
That he ought not be sad, it was not his fault that se died.
2. What keeps Victor from killing himself?
The thought of revenge against the monster.
3. What effect have these events had on Elizabeth?
She feels horrible, she does not want to do anything, nothing can cheer her up.
4. What makes Victor go to Charmounix?
The need to be alone, he doesn't want any human contact.
5. Explain: “I was a wreck—but nought had changed in those savage and enduringscenes.” (Pg. 78)
He has sortof gotten over the enents, because of the need want to kill the monster.
6. As Victor climbs the mountains, what effect do they have on him?
He feels happy, and alone.
7. Why does Victor climb Montanvent in spite of the rain?
He just needs to get to the top!
8. What are Victor’s feelings as his creation approaches him? What is the first thing hesays to his creature?
He feels enraged, and wants to kill him.
9. Describe the expression on the creature’s face.
Pain and suffering, he could not believe his creator would want to kill him.
10. How does the creature respond to Victor?
Basically "Kill me if you wish, you have already killed my soul by leaving"
11. With what does the creature threaten Victor?
That he would be killing his Adam, his creation.

That Victor should listen to what he has to say before he decides to kill him.
13. For what reason does Victor follow the creature and listen to his story?
He begins to feel sorry for the monster.
